Public Version Changelog:
•    Updates Ren'Py Engine to 7.4.5.1648.
•    Enables Model Based Rendering.
      •    This vastly improves animated scene performance, especially on capable hardware.
      •    This also improves general performance and allows us to do a few new things.
      •    This will also mean that Sileo will no longer run on some very old systems. Sorry!
•    Removed prediction from animated scene. May or may not help stability.
•    Adds the conclusion for Day 12, Day 13 and three quarters of Day 14.
•    Introduces a new side character named Glenn.
•    Adds 2 new CG’s, 1 of which is treated as a mini-special scene.
•    Adds fully nude sprites for 2 characters! Can you guess who?
•    Mostly smaller adjustments for story consistency across Days 11, 12, 13 and 14.
•    Most notable is during the morning of Day 14 and adds a short new sequence.
•    Fixes Logan's face disappearing for realsies this time. (Hopefully lol)
•    Some minor fixes to typos and grammar, as well as minor technical improvements mostly relating to menu transitions.

This is one of my favorite VNs of all time! I really love each and every one of the characters. But I keep wondering... is there ever going to be an option to pursue Eric? He's super cute :D

(+1)

There's content planned for Eric after 1.0 has been released. It won't exactly be a route where you date him, but it will be some good stuff regardless :)

ok  tried to run the game and it keeps telling me i need to download some other software that my antivirus is warning me not to get.... what is going on. My laptop is only a couple months old and fully uptodate

Games built on new versions of Renpy get false positives from some anti-virus programs. It's safe, but the onus is in the Antivirus software makers to improve their algorithms. Most already have.

Logan is so nice, is this start of his route if someone is done with Tai ? O.o

(+1)

Make no mistake! This is still Tais route!

I too have experienced an error. My laptop isn't new, but the graphics drivers are up to date (less than a month old). I haven't come across a game or vn that I can't run at all, even modern ones. I'll post the error traceback below, I hope it's useful.

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

Sileo: Tales of a New Dawn 0.24.1

Wed Jun  2 18:48:03 2021

I'm not particularly technical but I've tried to find some more info: I have verified that I have DirectX 12. The Renpy documentation seems to suggest that only DX9 or DX11 is required for model-based rendering. I've tried forcing renpy to use gl2 or angle2 rendering, neither option changed anything. I hope this information is useful.

There's a new build available now! Your issue is the second one of the two, so download the new update and then delete 'renderer.rpa' from the /game/ folder to get up and running!

Thanks, this fixed it.

Is my PC really too old for the renderer? What does 'old' even mean when it comes to PCs? None of the other games I've played ever gave me any trouble. Most of them are visual novels from here. I have no knowledge about how most technology works so I'll just post the error I got here:

Sileo: Tales of a New Dawn 0.24.1

(+1)(-1)

This is an error with the model based renderer and, if I am not mistaken, most likely indicates your graphics hardware does not support the features required to run it.

Note that this renderer has been available to Ren'Py based visual novels since January, however as of the last update to the engine is now the default. You will likely start seeing this in other Ren'Py based visual novels in the near future. At some point, the other renderers will be removed as well, so developers are being encouraged to make the transition.

The first thing I'd suggest is make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. In our internal testing we found that systems from roughly 2013 and newer had the necessary features to run this new renderer. Older systems generally did not, however some occasionally received support via a driver update.

With the help of Google I managed to update my graphics driver. However, the error remained the same. So I guess I have to play the Android version on my smart phone now until I get a new PC which will hopefully be soon.

Give the newest update a try. Follow the instructions in the devlog and see if it helps!

It works now after I deleted the renderer.rpa in the hotfix version. I thank thee.

Pc Borked. Start up error.

What is the error you are receiving? We've got a heap of people playing the latest update right now, so it's definitely working for most. Note if your PC is very old, it may no longer run Sileo as of the latest update as we're using a new renderer which very old hardware may not support.

Give the newest update a try. Follow the instructions in the devlog and see if it helps!
