Sileo - 0.21.1a Quality Update Released!

Howdy everyone! Sorry for the wait on this release.

Here's the previously promised quality update. This should hopefully improve things for those of you still having various issues with the previous release. It should hopefully work better on Android and also hopefully not crash on startup on Windows anymore, for those experiencing those rarer issues.

As far as the antivirus side of things goes... well, it's a step sideways it seems. Despite the changelog for Ren'Py 7.4.3 stating that things were improved, our internal testing didn't necessarily reflect that. You may still need to add an exclusion for these builds if things don't work how they should.

Anyway, if you're experiencing any problems with the previous update, installing this version should be your first port of call. And please be sure to keep letting me know about problems. I'm fixing what I can, and shaking my fist angrily in the direction of Ren'Py for the rest!

(PS: If you're a Patron, there is an equivalent update for you over on Patreon)

Changelog
0.21.1a - Released March 10th, 2021

  • Updates Ren'Py Engine to 7.4.3.1414, addressing a variety of issues across several platforms.
  • A massive amount of dialogue and story error fixes, fixing myriad typos and other issues.
  • A smaller, but still significant amount of audio and visual fixes addressing a wide range of minor issues.
  • Increased the speed of skipping dialogue.
  • An attempt to fix an uncommon crash that occurs on or shortly after boot. Currently only reported on Windows but may also affect other platforms. We have zero information to go off, so this fix is a stab in the dark and may or may not work.
  • Improvements to initial setup of analytics which should improve preferences menu reliability.

Known Issues
Some antiviruses still take exception to games built on Ren'Py 7.4. Right now, all you can do is add an exception. Rest assured, the game is safe.

The Ren'Py 7.4.3 release breaks gamepad support. The fix below will work for both the Public and Patreon releases and should work across all platforms except Android. There's no way to easily patch the Android version right now, this fix will be included in future builds. To install simply take the 'renpy' folder from the zip and merge it with the 'renpy' folder in your Sileo directory. Confirm that you want to overwrite the files.

So when I was playing the 64-bit version, the dialogue paused at nearly every new line, like when I click to see the next character talk. And whenever a choice came up, it would pause for like 7 seconds....does this update fix that? I know the 32-bit version is exists, and that worked perfectly for me, so is it like a computer issue on my end or something that was fixed here?

So it's happening on the 32bit version of the game, but not on the 64bit version? That's very strange and would certainly be engine related unfortunately. This update does include an engine update, so all I can suggest is giving it a go. I'm not aware of any specific issue like that being addressed but the Ren'Py changelogs tend to skim over a lot of stuff. Worst case, just use the 32bit version - there's no harm in doing so.

Nononono....I meant the 64-bit version does the pausing....the 32-bit version is perfectly fine

Sorry, that's what I meant, not the other way around. Comment still stands otherwise. It shouldn't happen on one and not the other and if it does, it's almost definitely something out of my control to fix.

Oh alright....thanks!🐊
